Autoskin, explained: the Regera's fully automated body

In short: Autoskin is Koenigsegg's electro-hydraulic system that opens the Regera's doors, front hood and rear hatch automatically — part of the car's grand-tourer, low-effort-ownership brief.

Most hypercars treat convenience as an afterthought. The Regera, positioned as Koenigsegg's grand-touring model rather than a stripped-out track weapon, goes the opposite direction with Autoskin: its dihedral doors, front hood and rear hatch all open and close under electro-hydraulic actuation, triggered by a key fob or interior switch rather than manual effort.

The system is built to work with the car's proximity sensors, so panels don't open into an obstruction, and it's integrated with the Regera's broader philosophy of pairing extreme performance — its Direct Drive hybrid powertrain — with genuine daily usability, down to details like proper cup holders, a feature Koenigsegg has noted is unusually rare in a megacar of this performance level.

For the full drivetrain story behind the car Autoskin was designed for, see our explainer on how the Regera's Direct Drive system works.
